Die Brunnenanlage pl\u00e4tschert nun auf dem neu gestalteten Platz zwischen dem Hauptstaatsarchiv und der Landesbibliothek an der Kulturmeile. Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde sie vom Bildhauer Hanspeter Fitz und dem Architekten Peter Faller f\u00fcr die Bundesgartenschau 1961 geschaffen. Damals befanden sich nahe dem Planetarium im Mittleren Schlossgarten drei kreisrunde Bassins, in die das Wasser von jeweils sieben unterschiedlich hohen Tischen herabfloss. 2012 musste das Brunnenensemble den Bauarbeiten am neuen Tiefbahnhof weichen. Da das Wasserspiel unter Denkmalschutz steht, wurden die Metalltische zun\u00e4chst eingelagert. Allerdings stellte sich heraus, dass sie nach \u00fcber 50 Jahren Betrieb nicht erneut verwendet werden konnten und ersetzt werden mussten. Heute sprudelt das Wasser auf dem Bibliotheksplatz von neuen Metalltischen in ein gro\u00dfes rechteckiges Bassin.
